Black & Blue

Black & Blue

It's a constant on my mind,

What’s wrong and what’s right.

What should be, what could be.

What’s black and what’s white.

As your hands wander round,

Your eyes steadily browse down.

I've been here once before,

A different person left me sore.

Lies drenching your every word,

But your eyes are leaking truth.

I can feel you sinking in,

As I, myself, drown in our youth.

Your lips press against my neck,

Through layers of chains and emptiness,

My sweet sinister stained skin,

Leaves you bare, blue and breathless.

An aftertaste of nostalgia,

Quickly kicks me in the head,

Because I know how these nights go,

They're a pill I crave and dread.

I would mention your void eyes,

Unreadable, unsure,

But I used that on the last one,

So I'll pretend they're just a door.

I love this! Your fifth stanza really excels in beauty and I love the narrator's internal struggle between knowing love is dangerous but something that they're too tenuous to walk away from. Great portrayal of vulnerability- well done!
