A Poem by ms. understood

The most genuine man that walks into the room
Has been dealt the worst hand life has to offer
Depressive episodes that linger from the foul behavior of those he's come into contact with
Losing himself in the love of people that were unreachable
Trying to affirm himself in a world that makes him feel anonymous
Providing advice to the undeserving
Poetic words spoken on drunken nights with tanqueray at hand
Filling her with intoxicating kisses that make her heart grow fonder
It is he who can rebuild a world in which she never could have imagined
And she thanks him endlessly
For the truest friendship they've built
To be enough for one another
Is all that matters
In this world of endless suffering they share

This is a very powerful line: "Trying to affirm himself in a world that makes him feel anonymous". It's incredibly relatable. I think we all suffer in our attempt to feel celebrated as 'somebody' in a world that can often make us feel like 'nobody' when we're looking for external validation.

The poem does a great job of shedding light onto the diamonds in the rough who are genuine and injured individuals, and also reflects a lesson that all we need is "To be enough for one another". While we may have a heart that wants to change the ENTIRE world, we can do so much good just helping another PERSON'S world.

Nicely written! =)

Guess that to share truth is the easiest way to form a friendship? Fire flames when words don't have to describe everything felt because Everything varies but.. but - between lines muttered or written, there's a pause that says, ' I understand.' Space somehow draws what could be passed by in the flesh; it's the feel of a breath between thoughts. Perhaps. We make our own sadness.. think it's best to hide from it until - glory be, you discover someone else is hiding away already. Then, together there's more..

I identify with this in ways I'm not comfortable describing out loud. Outstanding work. I'm going to leave it at that.

The synopsis of a life's time... sigh.

Broken hearts always meet at dawn.
Like the understanding in this poem.
It doesn't matter how two people are drawn to each other, even if they have to go back to their rotten lives to realise the friendship is always there to come back to.

This was a nice little poem about two lonesome people that have been dealt a bad hand in their lives, sad in places because they feel like they have more suffering coming but also optimistic and comforting in the fact that they also have each other, be it close or casual.
Haha like the old saying "Misery loves company".
Keep it up! :)

UGH ! Misery sure does love company. But the company is always welcome. Thanks, Mark.
Heartwarming to know that two people who have been down on their luck and have suffered should find a wonderful and understanding friendship together. Turning negativity into positivity, I really enjoyed your lines here. The future looks bright.

I hope there is a future. Thank you, Chris!
Really like this one. You have a very unique style. It's somehow both choppy (I mean this as a compliment) and fluid.

two anonymous, down-on-their-luck people can find passion and compassion with each other....as they share what they have gone through with each other, and find love.
really like this...
