Unrequited Love

All these girls want to spend the night in your bed

And I just want to spend my life in your heart

Kiss you in a field of fireflies

As they light up the background to our romance

As I lay by your side

You stare at me with those gratifying eyes

I have never been so happy before

Watching the pink sunset fade into this alluring evening

I fantasize having this moment everyday for eternity

Committing to our promises we made in the beginning 

Dancing with you until the very end

Never letting go of the story you once told me

That is the life I want to have with you 

But I now see, that is the life you want to have with her

And I will cry myself to sleep dreaming of what could be

Asking myself, why can't you just love me?

Great little poem ! Unrequited love and unanswered emotions can be one of the most painful things a person can experience. At the same time, there's also a bittersweet side to holding on to this sad romantic fantasy, your own personal heartache.

It' one of those painful things a lot of people have to go through. I went through the same thing when I was younger. It made no sense to me but I soon learned life is not always fair.

It is so painful if he is all the author ever wanted and he makes her so happy and yet the feelings aren't reciprocated. Unrequited love certainly sucks. You convey those feelings well.
