Pinkies are for Promises

Pinkies are for Promises

A Poem by Jessica Harmony

Our smallest tools,
They could barely lift weight,
(although yours were strong)
Were the seal on every covenant we made.
Our little grasp,
Signing away the right to tell a secret,
To never repeat an action,
To always be together,
A bond never to be broken.
If pinkies were created for promises,
why don't we just have four fingers?
Everyone knows even the most
genuine joining of pinkies,
Even the ones you kiss,
Will never be a full commitment.

Just have four fingers, so we're not able to give promises? :) I liked this. The innocent, childlike wording of the phrase made the feeling of betrayal so much worse.
