Friends

Friends

A Poem by lookitup

I love friends

They're such a curious thing

It's almost as if

how they build you up

is how you get torn down

Beacause they lie

For your own good

But is it really yours?

Their lies buy your friendship

and strengthen it

and nourish it

until the crucial

oh so carefully balanced moment

that you crash down to Earth

Shattered.

And yet they remain your friend

Because they lie

For your own good

Is it so strange that I pose the query

that perhaps the truth

holds the greatest good?

The friend with the truth

that cannot build you up so high

too high

for you to teeter over the edge?

But really,

are they truly your friend?

For without friends

who else is left

to build you up?
