Awwwwwwwwwww, this is so sweet it should come with a warning for diabetics. I bet he jumps and yelps and wags tail at your return every day and misses you when you are gone. Not sure about Jacks, but he looks like he would be a little bundle of energy that keeps you busy with walks and play. Adorable. :)

I loved the way you connected love to the torn heart! The only thing I suggest is that you change the "but" to an and. A but there makes its sound contradictory, but with an and, it flows smoothly. Also, the word yuck is a very gritty sound compared to the poem. I would try something softer so that the readers keep on reading :D otherwise, it's great!
