Chains

the way you can't hold pain in or it takes over

Pain in a box

deep in my mind

don't want it open

until the right time

chain lock my pain

pretend it's one time

but when the box breaks

the chain locks my mind

Those chains hold so much back. Things that have been put there for a reason. We have spent our tears on them so much before, that they need to be kept bound in darkness for us to cope. One day, we hope they can be released and gone forever, or replaced with better days, but we make do and march on, hoping they are strong enough not to leak.

This is incredible. Short but really interesting. I read it four times!! I think sometimes those in pain tend to hide what they're feeling as well, and I interpreted this as someone doing exactly that. Excellent piece of poetry.
