Stains

Stains

A Poem by jesserose99
"

a past that left its mark

"

Stained

things I can't take back

marks left on my soul

of die long since cast

Stained

old memories

haunting my history

making me bleed

Stains

life lived fast and hard

burned out old passion

leaving it's scar

Can't shout them out

but I wouldn't want to

my past made me who I am, and not a me new

to me I guess, its how I remain true

jesserose, Sometimes we fail to remember that bouts of adversity we have gone through have changed us, in many cases yielding a better and stronger person in its wake. Looking back at the tapestry our lives have woven these bad times may look like stains but in a lot of cases they actually add vibrant color to our lives, creating a richer canvas. Very nicely done! take care...dan

for me, the most significant line is "...made me who I am, not a me new.."
Cheers.

Thank you again Tobias for the visit!
We all have stains of the past in our lives. No matter how hard we try to remove them or cover them up, they are ingrained into us. The smart do as you do and wear them with pride, badges of honour that simply state "look, this is the crap ive had to deal with, so dont even waste my time trying" or like me, I wear my disguise and fail miserably at hiding them.
We all have em, but we all learn different things from them.
Keep being true, it suits ya :)

Well im glad. I forgot to make my own, so thats good I made someone elses :)
I really like this. The outlook on looking at your negatives and understanding they do have a way of changing you while not defining you only unless you let them. Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks Andrew!
I can really appreciate the meaning here. There isn't a one of us who hasn't been stained. We have all kinds of stains, from blood to those long since faded beyond recognition. The end result wouldn't be the same without the occasional spill from time to time.

Thanks Clifford...I appreciate your coming by!
Your passion for creativity shows strong here. I love the metaphor ! we all have stained ourselves (pardon the expression) at one time or another... they real trick deciding to accept them instead of washing them away. They are (as you wrote so perfectly) after all a part of us.

Thanks Bill, wise words. :)
"dice long since cast" could be "die long since cast". I like the flow of this piece and the message. Well done.

Almost forgot to respond...im nutty...lol. Thanks for that suggestion, the flow is much nicer. :)
So good, loving that you added "Can't shout them out" That brought a smile to my face. Life is full of stains that can never come clean. Some we deal with and some we worry about and some we just ignore. Great writing.
