I always start a stuttering when I get in a verbal argument

Never a fighter

when it gets verbal

I think its since childhood

but that's inconsequential

I get it twisted sister

when you insist it mister

that we discuss it louder

because it makes you prouder

My words get stuck in my brain

so you win everything

there ain't nothing to dispute

when but but but is my refute

So can't we discuss it later

when your anger ain't greater

because when I get afraid

I think of nothing to say

I'll write it in a letter

that's where I express myself better

but if you want me to yell with you

best get another gal who will too

Whispering works for me. They realise how ridiculous they sound shouting replies to a whisper, and if you get all up in their grill, as the young scallywags put it so eloquently, it comes across as quite sinister too.
Lovely words, painting a picture of your confusion in confrontation. Its no bad thing to not play by their rules. Plus, did you ever notice those who shout the loudest have the least to say? Interesting that, isnt it? :)

Its hard to come out with the right words when attacked but on writing and thinking later its always full steam ahead! I always look back and think I wished I said that!

Fun read for an important topic. Verbal abuse is more harmful to a person's psyche than physical abuse. The victim does not know how to process it... Better to ban people from your life when they abuse you this way. No excuses. We let this crap go far too often in our society. It is barbaric behavior. Your poem was a tactful way to say so.
