Broken

Broken

A Poem by scratchingthesurface

Have you lost your humanity?

I have.

Your heart is breaking, your chest is aching:

and still you go on taking.

you dont remember what it is:

to laugh, to cry.

No use for feelings aymore.

your friends say your lucky

you never got caught.

Your not.

It fed your ego,

kept you going.

Never stopping,

never slowing.

Going faster,

doing more.

Thats all that mattered anymore.

I should be dead,

but my heart still beats inside this chest,

that inhaled the toxic fumes

of coke and meth.

cigarettes that stained my breath.

slowly smoking to the death

agony held in every breath.

This is incredibly well-written. It had a tempo that kept me moving ever quicker to the end. Very pleased.
