The Worst Way

The Worst Way

A Poem by Jesse F Hayes
"

A girl, her guitar and a waltz.

"

If I could change where we are

And where we've been

And where we're going to

If I could change who we are

Who we'll be

I wouldn't change you

But I should have been shorter

Should have been thinner

Should have been a little bit brave

And I still want you on the strangest days

And I still find you in the weirdest place

And I still need you in the worst way

If I could change everything

We said that night

I don't know if I would

If I could change how I feel

How you feel

I really should

Cause you wanted me darker

Wanted me dumber

Just not the way that I am

And I still want you on the strangest days

And I still find you in the weirdest place

And I still need you in the worst way

And I

I still want you one the strangest days

And I still find you in the weirdest place

And I still need you in the worst way

I still need you in the worst way

Hi Jesse:
This feels like lyrics more than a poem. It's got bounce and a playfulness that belies the content. I really like the refrain:

"And I still want you on the strangest days
And I still find you in the weirdest place
And I still need you in the worst way"

It feel fresh and like the narrator will survive it enough though she's in pain. The only word I'm not fond of is "dumb," but I'm at a loss for a suggestion. But it sticks out and gets in the way. Otherwise, nice work.

I really liked the subject here and the way you portrayed it. Very good write. One thing I would change is in line 3, omit the "to". Also, does the ast line need to be repeated so close to itself? If that was your intention then it works if not it's kind of akward. Again, very emotional piece and well done.

I loved this. Every word. So true how sometimes we want what is so wrong for us.

I, too, was imagining the music. :o) Great job.

This is my problem - always beating myself up about something I did or didn't do and what I could've done better. I enjoyed it very much.

Just the singer sitting alone with a guitar in the spotlight late at night. Very moody.

*twannnnnng*

This sounded like it would be interesting to hear with the music you chose for it, even though the one I had revolving in my head wasnt bad, I'm sure it would be better with yours.

And I still want you on the strangest days

Thats one of the grooviest lines I've heard in a while. What style of music do you have these words set to? Just curious.
Nice lyrics.
