Something Chewy

Something Chewy

A Poem by jessfoundwonder

In a braided goodbye it all fell into air
I never liked you enough or tried hard to care
You were only a boy, who wanted one thing
And I am a girl, but made out of string

I get tied up in places that I'd rather not be
With people without enough subtlety
I'd like to be liked, but I'd rather be real
From now on my heart won't be easy to steal

Just slow down your breathing, and say your words fast
This summer's too small, but so is our past
All the boys that have said but never did love me
Have rotted my heart, and made me empty

But between all the lies mistaken for truths
I caught everything solid, and pulled my soul loose
From the rocks and the fingers that clouded my mind
Now my headache's are gone, and I'm not quite so blind
