I'm Sorry

I'm Sorry

A Poem by jessfoundwonder

In the blink of a season, closed eyes were opened
And I found the world to be quite picturesque
You're a new type of person, you loved me like summer
But winter is cold, and I'm feeling restless

I'm sorry fate found you to be who you are to me
I really do love you, if that's worth anything
But I'm also a child and a bird and a song
Perhaps you'll forgive me for all I've done wrong

Angels will cry tonight, and I'll kiss their cheeks
You're a light under dark clouds in the soul of the streets
Pretty faces surround you and cling to your feet
But it's me who decided that their beauty was weak

And I remembered a feeling that I'd never known
And the rush of the taste of fire stole me from home
I may find regret in the places I'll go
But if I stay behind I'll wonder until I know

Right's contrast to wrong, and the product of affection
Is it awful to dwell on the expense of rejection
Before your time comes will you promise me this
That you'll take all you've learned and wrap it up in a kiss

Because I love you so much, it cuts straight to the bone
Give me this time, and I might come back home
I'm the most selfish of girls, but you love me too
I won't hold it against you if you say we're through
