The Meaning of Life

The Meaning of Life

A Poem by jessfoundwonder

Beauty shines best under black skies

Where silence and chaos relax

I'm something wild, but I'm still a child

And scared to see the world at it's best

Funny or not, you're still a robot

Made shiny, you sit in the bars

Perhaps you are pretty, but I'm from the city

And I think that streetlights are stars

Frighten the east coast and cross the Atlantic

Make music that shines through your skin

Your soul is quite agile and this house is faded

But once I heard angles come in

I took a month to collect what I'd lost before

Understand that I'm all out of tune

But I laid beneath stars and forgot about cars

And eventually found I can't lose

Because once your body grows old, you leave for a while

And your soul sails away from this place

It'll find someone new and they'll grow old one day too

And then that's when life finds a new face

But not a single thing here has no purpose

And it's duty to be who you are

You were put on this grass for reason's unknown

And it's painted up over the stars

I really liked the uplifting and encouraging voice in your words! Sometimes I think we are all just little chess piece dolls and God is playing Barbie. xD You are a terrific Poet!

This was a wonderful piece to ponder and conjur up images of things as they progress through time. I thought the entire piece had a good flow to it, except maybe the last stanza. For some reason, it lacked any rhyme, while all the rest had something that ryhmed. It made it for and ending that as more powerful in a why, for the mind stops on that one and reads it deeper, trying to find the difference, thus it's images in a way, come across as more important.

Great Ink!
