I'm Not Settling

I'm Not Settling

A Poem by jessfoundwonder

Where do all of the lovely people hide?

And how do you find them?

I don't want to be with people I don't like

You're fine but not for me

You've got a charming side when we talk on the phone

But when we're by ourselves you can't get the words right

Is it me that you don't like?

Or is it you?

I wish we clicked, like lovers do

But you treat me like a friend like I see you

And your simple words fight your simple mind

You and I don't come from the same kind

I couldn't ever feel like you do with a first love

You're unbelievably shallow

Girls like me, we tend to rely on make believe

I've only ever fallen once, and you're not for me

So I guess I'll have to run again

And keep this mess from getting any bigger

I thank God for that boy who really did love me

I swear I'll never settle for anything or anybody

it was good piece. very self-empowering for females who believe in true love. i like it because it let the guy down gently and some girls don't do that. haha. :)
