Waiting for You

Waiting for You

A Poem by jessfoundwonder

He always likes a cup of coffee

He can love the adrenaline

He's not afraid of silence with me

I make faces through the window until he lets me in

We fight over things like politics and books we like to read

He likes to hold my hand and he smiles when he dreams

I'd love to be yours in an imperfect kind of way

That happy feeling, when you laugh 'cause you just don't know what to say

Or how to say everything you feel

When you finally spit it out and the words are finally real

That's who you are, and here's where I am

You're what I'm looking for, and I'm just waiting for it

Maybe you have a dog and maybe you feed him ice cream

Maybe I'll have one too and they can fall in love like we do

Tell me of the songs you like to dance to

And maybe I can learn the words and sing them just for you

And you'll tell me that I'm the prettiest sound

But then you'll laugh and admit you're lying

And I'll tell you that you're a fool for thinking that I'd have believed you

And I'll tell you that I love you

And you'll tell me you love me

And we'll live with our ups and downs

But we'll be forever happy

That's who you are, and here's where I am

You're what I'm looking for, and I'm just waiting for it
