Years

Years

A Poem by jessfoundwonder

The frazzled minutes and years that shape us

Curse and fold out the education

It'll be worth all the time you spent, they promised

Believe the big world is unharnessed

But my best friend is a mess for this boy

And I'm in love with him, and I can't fight it

It shakes me to the core being torn in both directions

He smiles, I fall, but she means so much more

And classes strike down the avenue

Mounds of progress and loads to finish

It's either sleep or lose

And it's a routine that I just can't commit to

But there's fools and their fights

And there's nights you won't remember or forget

You'll get sad, but the minute you go

Oh God, all you know better be enough to get you through

Because this is the stretch I have with you
