Two Is For Fools

Two Is For Fools

A Poem by jessfoundwonder

We were funny little beings

Figuring out the world and all her heros

But who really knows what all that really means?

You were special and you still are

And when your fireflies carried you away

And showed you of the good life, where smiles never fade

I cried for a year and kept your CD replayed

For me, you were a f*****g mistake, I think

And my humble ghosts sunk back behind the quiet streets

I fed them infrequently still, with all of your best memories

With my radio set, I'd let myself forget to forget

But I kept my tears for something a little more worthy

Our break wasn't clean, until I sent you that letter

I needed an end, no some stupid forever

Do you know how much it hurts,

To put your heart back together?

And hearts will be hearts,

And mine thinks it knows best

With your face like a match

It eats fire for breakfast

And one conversation will light it all up in flames

Here we go, here we go, this is feeling the same

But right now, it's different because I could never forget

All that tore me in two, from the day that we met

Hi Jess. Well I'll be the last person to admonish or upbraid a person for their age; I was 15 once and haven't forgotten the depth and range of feelings I experienced at that age. It was (and is) a tumultuous period; a veritable roller-coaster ride that goes by fast. Enjoy the ride some. Now as for the write. Unlike your other biographical pieces, this one really shines in some verses, and your creative juices were flowing. I love the metaphor of fire, and the last two stanza's bring home nicely the juxtaposition of longing and reality. This one resonated well, and I sincerely hope you realize you are too smart and sassy to let some boy toy with your heart like a yo-yo. Keep writing my friend, it's a great outlet.
