A Little too Late

A Little too Late

A Poem by Jessica

Smiling down at you is a face clear

and in perspective easily mistaken

for an angel, your mother.

You stand there as a miniscule

being with misunderstood meaning.

But meaning and purpose are hard to grasp,

especially when morals and virtues are harder tasks.

There are ways out, as in every aspect of life.

But this way out is not hard to find,  for it is open

and wide luring you to believe all can be easily done.

But easy? Easy? How can life be easy?

Is there more in that direction if i choose to go?

Is it easy to push all aside and begin

a new way of living your life?

Was it trust that was needed?

Was it reason to be found?

Was it love that you needed?

Or was it me that was wrong?

When can one think a single

way out is the only escape,

when there are always a million decisions

to be thought of and made?

There are so many ways, so many paths.

And one day we will have to choose one.

Too little was done. Too little was made.

And in the end youll find true

that you were a little too late.

This is a great poem. You are very talented. My favorite was:

A very sad but insightful poem. I re-read it three times just to absorb all of it. You did a nice job starting with one image and then moving the image along as the poem progressed all the way to the end.

This is how I feel about my mother. It was a little emotional for me to read because like I said, it hit home for me. But I enjoyed reading it.
