Chapter 5: Angelically Proclaimed Psychopath, Part 1A Chapter by Jericho ™Nolan cuts her off with, "I don't freaking care anymore! We can't rely on that now! This whole ordeal brings me to sickness!"
Room Four-Twenty-Eight is receiving multiple visits this day. All returning visitors. Several friends, family. It has been days since Nolan, Aiden's brother's first visit. This will be his second time visiting since the accident. He turns into the entrance and parks his truck at the nearest parking space.
"Baby I know, I'll be home in a bit, I just wanted to st-... alright honey...alright...I love you too...okay, bye." The call is ended. As far as Christina knows, Nolan is just stopping at the local supermarket to pick up some groceries. He failed to mention he was stopping at the hospital. She won't notice. I'll just pick up some cokes or something on the way back. He looks sternly at the night sky through his window, then opens the car door and leaps out. He begins moving through the parking lot. His walk is fast and continuous. He walks as if he's on a mission. The hospital doors slide open automatically and Nolan breezes through the main lobby to the elevator past the secretary's desk, ignoring, "Can I help you sir?" No you can't help me. Only God can help me, and I'm about to find out if even He helps anymore. I hear prayer works, here's a test. Nolan chooses the third floor as elevator music intrudes his thought-process. What is even the reason of this music. It's just pointless and annoying. You're only in the elevator for fifteen to twenty seconds anyway. The elevator bell rings, the doors are un-enveloped and the hospital corridor appears as Nolan steps out into it. It's freezing in here. Air Conditioner must be broken, feels like there should be snow in here. As Nolan approaches room four-twenty-eight, he hears the voice of another man saying something around the lines of, "I'm sorry... didn't have to..." and as Nolan arrives in front of the door to the room, it is opened, and a tall, blonde-haired man is revealed. His face is reddended, and his eyes are watered. He rushes past Nolan towards the opposite direction. Why do I recognize him.... His names...Chad? Cheste--...Chase? Yeah, Chase. That's who it was. Nolan pushes the already opened door forward, and his brothers body is revealed in the same position he had last left it. Unconscious. Idle. Lifeless. Nolan steps over to look into Aiden's face. The only difference is the un-shaved facial hair. He's still alive. But... it hasn't gotten better... I thought prayer would help... Nolan's silver-green eyes water and glow red as he once again clinches the hand of his younger brother. It didn't work... all the faith and dedication these last... There's a buzzing pulse in Nolan's right pocket, which causes him to abruptly end his thoughts. He drags it upward out of the denim, and the text reads Christina. The call is answered with an uneasy, "Chris?" "Baby where are you? Nevermind that doesn't matter. I have interesting news for you.", is the reply. "Well, what is it?", asks Nolan. "Aiden had been doing it for a few years. I was told he had begun freshmen year with a few of his buddies. How old is he now, seventeen?" "He would've turned seventeen in January. I can't believe this though, no wonder there was such a drastic amount of tar... wait his buddies? Like who?" " I don't remember all their names. He wasn't even friends with two of the three anymore. He drifted from one and I think one of them recently passed away." "And the third?" "The third was that Chase kid. You've seen him at the services. It's been awhile though." "Chase? Did he have blonde hair? Pretty tall?" "Pretty tall, if I remember right. I don't remember for sure, haven't seen him in a while. Interesting though, from what I understand he was the one who introduced it to everyone" "Oh my gosh. I literally think I just saw him earlier!" "Well he helped him begin..." "What do you mean Chase helped him... and three years? It still doesn't change the fact that... "Nolan your voice is rising. I can tell your getting angrier. Don't do anything stupid. Let's just pray about th-" Nolan cuts her off with, "I don't freaking care anymore! We can't rely on that now! This whole ordeal brings me to sickness!" Nolan steps outside the room into the hallway and stares down it blankly. Christina continues talking, yelling to stop his anger, "Stop, Nolan! Relax! Calm down! You know you can't control your actions when you're angry!", but her words are wasted, for Nolan is deep into thought. That little prick. He caused this. He doesn't even remember what she said last once he notices the silence. She's obviously waiting for a reply pertaining to a question when she adds, "Nolan!?" "Chri-.... I, I just.... Someone's gotta' freakin' pay! This is his fault! Someone's gotta' take responsibility, and he's the one that started him. And now he's gonna regret it!" "Whatever you have in mind, let G-...!" The phone is clapped together, and thrown at the floor, scattered into multitudes of diminutive pieces. © 2010 Jericho ™Author's Note
