We Can Never Go Back To Yesterday

Being thankful for the love we had and moving on

You are still my favorite mistake-

One memory I was glad to make,

I am finally over the pain-

Only the good memories remain.

 

It wasn't meant to be,

We've moved on to a new destiny...

Who knows in another place and time-

Maybe I would still be yours and you mine.

 

But life got in the way,

I had too many responsibilities for you to stay.

You had a different life waiting for you,

And there just wasn't much we could do.

 

My kids always come first, you see-

And your shop was definitely more important than me,

But I am a better person for loving you-

Before you I'd never felt a love so true.

 

Now I know how beautiful love can be,

When it's right-it is a wonderful sight to see.

I will always carry you in my heart-

But now you own a smaller part...

 

I had to file you away,

To make room for new love someday-

I hope you've found the happiness you were looking for,

I don't want REVENGE anymore.

 

Maybe I'll see you somewhere down the road,

The memories will come flooding back I know.

A smile and a hug and I'll be on my way-

Because I know now that we can never go back to yesterday.
