tornados

tornados

A Poem by jennifer little

as the winds begin to whip past,
the tornado swirl,
through the dark clouds,
their dervish has destroyed,
everything within their paths,
as the tornado alley is a dangerous place to live,
their storms begin to create powerful winds,
as they pass us by,
when the storm ends,
the winds shall disease,
and die down,
now we can rest

I was in Ft. Worth Texas March 28th of 2000 when a tornado killed several people there. I was in a hotel looking out the window at a eerie green sky and horizontal rain. It's such a weird sight to see it raining sideways. The weather girl in Ft. Worth was terrified as she was out in the street reporting when the sirens began to wail. I wouldn't have had her job that day for anything. I enjoyed your poem. F.

In 2011, a tornado did it's damnedest to level Joplin, Missouri. Well do I know the power of a twister. Emotional tornadoes do the same thing to our hearts. But like the residents of Joplin, we rebuild. Tenacity, hope, more than a little stubbornness... These are what allows us to survive. Descriptive words nicely penned.
