I felt the turmoil of this puppy from the very first sentence. "A lost puppy!" is one of the most heart-breaking things I can think of, only one step behind "Babies in Iraq!".
The use of the biblical name Jacob stirred deep feelings of kinship in me. I think this is a beautiful name for a puppy, because I believe that puppies have an intrinsic understanding of God's word (a belief few others agree with, but then again I am tolerant of puppy poop in my bedroom!).
I found the events after his being lost quite hard to follow as my heart was in my throat. All I could think of was puppies being lost in alley ways, probably being attacked by winos looking for food. I believe that eating puppies should be illegal, and have petitioned my Prime Minister for just such a law. I hope America follows the same path!
By the end, I felt so relieved that Jacob was safe that I forgot this was a story for a moment, and actually started to call my parents to tell them the good news!
Overall, I enjoyed it very much.
Warm regards,
TLK

Without those pesky, evil-doing creatures, little puppies, like our Jacob, here, wouldn't have to get lost and become a tasty dish for a dumpster-dwelling wino.
