The Wanderers Journey

The Wanderers Journey

A Poem by Jennifer M. Pennington

The Wanderers Journey

Recklessly wandering
She stumbles the entire way
Birds fly high
The breeze rolls by
As cars pass her on the highway

A bag slung over her shoulder
Where her memories lay packed away
Until she finds her chosen spot
A place where she can stay

Many have called her crazy
Some too scared to approach her
She used to take it seriously
But now nothing can touch her

Not while she's on this journey
Wandering through life
Everyday's an experience
That turns into an endless night

She never used to greet the sun
Now she can recite its many colors
She hadn't seen the stars in so long
But she's counted them, there are NUMBERS!

She's the wanderer
On an endless, spiral journey
From the inside out she wanders about
There's no telling who she'll find herself to be

She doesn't care though
It's not her name or title she cares for
She stripped it all away
In return for something more

Unlabeled, unleashed and without a name
The wanderers journey is a long one
you'll know you're finished
When you're unafraid
