Wilted FeelingsA Poem by zoe luman
Wilted Feelings I have an old neighbor lady I don't know her well, But her yard is full of bushes and flowers... It's dark, the stars are brighter than usual. Those yellow flowers are just perfect Just wasting away out there in her yard. Must I ask that old woman for some? What does she care if I snitch a few. "Snap!", Theses branches are tough and loud God help me if she can hear my rustling about. "You want something from me?", she yelled out. No Answer. She slammed the door shut, The light over her door switched off. She must be standing there in the dark With her thoughts of anger. Run fast, run home, be scared. No more than she... Flowers so delicately chosen now thrown Carelessly on my kitchen table Wilting with the shame I felt. I'll apologize to her tomorrow, I'll bring her flowers. She'll be there, watching and waiting... A knock so loud termites might have guessed Company was about. No answer. The flowers on those branches don't look so Tempting today. I have an old neighbor lady, I don't know her well. © 2008 zoe luman |
