My Daughter

My Daughter

A Poem by zoe luman

My Daughter

Day by day and year by year,

Side by side I held her tiny hand.

Her little feet stepping along side of mine.

We walked on roads, paths, on beach sand,

Through shopping malls, and more...

Just how many miles we walked together

Like that, while chatting, dreaming outloud,

or sharing thoughts, I'll never know.

When she no longer needed my hand,

Walking on her own to places she went

With others, or alone, those miles

I could never foresee...

How proud I am still, to walk beside her,

While chatting, dreaming, and sharing thoughts,

On roads, paths, on beach sand, through

Shopping malls, and more...

My baby girl now, and before.
