The Very Next Step

The Very Next Step

A Story by Jennifer Webster
"

My thoughts on my year at the Writer's Cafe and what I plan to do here at this great writing community in the year/decade to come.

"
I had first joined the online writing community the Writer’s Café in 2018...or is it 2017? Well, I cannot remember which year, but I am very much sure that I have joined the league very early. Since joining the Writer’s Café, I had begun to show off my writing chops and honing my writing talent at the same time. Not only that, I had also given other writers a chance to shine through contests in which I have hosted. My guess is that my writers had a pretty good time in those contests.
Indeed, the Writer’s Café is a great place for a writer such as myself to show off what I could do, and throughout this year alone, I have shown off a lot in terms of writing. And now that this year is coming to a close, not to mention the fact that this decade is coming to an end, I can look back on what I have done at this wonderful online community and to just simply give myself a pat on the back. Indeed, I’ve done a pretty great job of concentrating on my craft, while at the same time impressing the members of the Writer’s Café.
And now, the question remains: What about the year to come, and/or better yet, what about this decade that is very well on the horizon? Well, just like everyone else in this world, I do not have the faintest clue of what our next steps shall be. But what I do know is this: I would continue to do more of the same, providing the same writing stuff to entertain the folks just as I have always done.
However, when it comes to writing, I am not perfect, like anyone else. It takes time as well as practice to achieve the right words with the right rhythm, and I for one am still trying to make the best words sound as right as they can be. Somehow, it is working, but it still needs practice.
Let me ask you all this: Have you ever had trouble finding time to write something, only to have your parents or a family member pester you to clean your rooms every week, and then you get so upset that you cannot ever find the time to finish what you are supposed to be writing? Well, that has been happening to yours truly on occasional times. But my uncle had been pestering to clean my room, as well as other parts of the house, so I had no other choice but to do as I am told to do. When my uncle is busy with other things and has no time to pester me about cleaning (in which I meant no offense to him), then that is when I find the time to write something special, such as this little piece in which you are reading right now.
It is now time to close the books on this old year/decade and prepare for the next year/decade to come, while I also make plans for what I would bring to you in terms of writing. Among the things that I have learned since joining the Writer’s Café, is that I have learned how to be grateful in the many things of this life. I for one am so very grateful for the many of you in this great community who visit my page each day and week to read my writings, and it just makes me happy that you do so. In the coming year, whenever I find the time to do so, I would continue to bring written magic to every one of you to make you smile and laugh all over again.
I wish each and every one of you a very happy and blessed new year/decade/all of the above! With love-JW
