WILL THERE BE ANY PEACE FOR AMERICA? (An Essay)

WILL THERE BE ANY PEACE FOR AMERICA? (An Essay)

A Story by Jennifer Webster
"

Here is an essay about what we as Americans should do to achieve peace in this great country of ours.

"

This great nation of ours is living in constant fear right now; These days you cannot go anywhere without the fear of being shot, and that what has been happening in places such as El Paso, Texas, where 22 people have been shot and killed while 24 others have been injured, as well as Dayton, Ohio, where 9 people have also been shot and killed while 27 others have been injured.

One has to wonder if we would ever be safe ever again; that is why politicians are urging members of Congress for tougher gun control laws, and should that work, then maybe future acts of violence should be prevented. Oh, and we better not forget something else: Hate is rampant in America, as bad as it ever has before. To me, hate is nothing more than something that's as serious as cancer, and just as deadly as snake venom. If we do not ever do something about removing any hatred in this country, then we are very well doomed of living in this kind of poison forever.

Oh, and I simply just cannot forget something else: The stock market going to you-know-what in a handbasket-As of this writing, the markets just keep on dropping, and there is a fear that it could result in an economic slowdown, and all of us shall be reliving that same situation as we had a decade ago. You know, the President is saying that the economy is as good as it has ever been, but I am not sure of that…

All of these things are beginning to state that things are about to get very out of control, that is if something is not done very soon to correct each and every problem that we are enduring right at this very moment. If every American can find a solution that would make the stock market go up again and stay there, and that every politician can fight as hard as they could to make gun control a reality, then it is with hope that gun control laws, as well as background checks, would be the best idea in this here country to prevent future gun violence from ever happening again.

And if everyone in America, regardless of their age, race, gender or religion, would just get along with each other and accept each other just as they are, then there would not be any more hate in this world. The less the hate, the better we are at being the better people that we are.

Yes, we as Americans need peace, and the only way to achieve peace is that we work together as one, and to not ever poison our hearts with hate and greed. We do not know when that day would come, but we can get started right now by working together and to live life in peace, every single one of us.

" These days you cannot go anywhere without the fear of being shot"
- This is hyperbole. Understandable hyperbole, but, hyperbole none the less. It's simply not an accurate statement and dilutes any real point you were going to make. There are countries where that is not a hyperbolic statement... America is not one of them. People who say things like that have never been anywhere dangerous in person. The world, right now, has never been safer in the history of modern human beings. That doesn't mean we don't have problems, but pretending like America is a war zone turns rational people off to your message (you lose credibility).

There are real messages in this, especially about hate. It's a shame to see them presented as a hyperbolic meandering rant with a juvenile and simplistic take on the stock market for good measure. Just flip which side you're coming for and this is basically the same way they would present their arguments. Hyperbole... just say no to it. Be objective and rational, it's all you need. It might take you more time and be a little harder but, you'll get your point across with substance which is worth so much more and will last so much longer.

United we stand. I think they took that out of schools, along with the pledge of allegiance, and God. When the polar caps melt, they will find a gigantic barcode at the south pole that says, best if used by 2012.
