Do You Hear the Church Bells Ringing?

Do You Hear the Church Bells Ringing?

A Poem by jennifermuir
"

A poem that I wrote for no particular reason, but that I'm really proud of.

"

Do you hear the church bells ringing?

The bride is on her way.

The church bells they are ringing,

To mark this special day.

Do you hear the church bells ringing?

Her baby wails and cries,

The church bells they are ringing,

When he is baptised.

Do you hear the church bells ringing?

The baby, a man now.

The church bells they are ringing,

When he makes his vow.

Do you hear the church bells ringing?

The old man’s heart accepts defeat.

The church bells slowly ringing,

His widow, ill with grief.

Do you hear the church bells ringing?

As the widow takes a walk.

She hears the church bells ringing,

And when she does she stops.

Do you hear the church bells ringing?

The old lady sees a bride.

The church bells they are ringing

She reminisces with delight.

Do you hear the church bells ringing?

Today, the widow did not.

She is reunited with her husband,

And never will be forgot.
