My Aunt Pee

My Aunt Pee

A Poem by Jennifer Ryan
"

I wrote this about my great aunt who passed away today.

"

If you never known an enchanted soul

Or even a jubilant heart

If you never known a compassionate being

Full of vim and vigor then

You never knew my Aunt Pee

If you never had a good meal

Played a great game of cards

Or felt cozy and warm in the confines of a kitchen

Then you never knew my Aunt Pee

My Aunt Pee was a gift from

God wrapped in love and joy

My Aunt Pee was a glittery example of

The solidarity of the human spirit

And the long climb from rock bottom

My Aunt Pee knew no strangers

And made few enemies

My Aunt Pee liked to bring her groceries

In on a wheelbarrow and

My Aunt Pee loved to make you laugh

I was her Ginger, her spice

And she was my friend, my family, and my heart

I miss my Aunt Pee

But I would rather be missing her

Than to have to say I never knew her

Wonderful testimony to a kind soul. You have captured her essence in verse and praise.

I was reminded of this passage;

Psalm 56:8 (New International Version)

8 Record my lament;
list my tears on your scroll
are they not in your record?

May she rest in peace. Thank you for sharing a beautiful tribute.

God's Blessing

Beautiful tribute, that makes you feel like you missed something by not knowing this warm and unique person. You definately keep her alive with your descriptions of her character. Beautiful, and I'm sorry for your loss. Rain..

What a beautiful lament. I loved how much heart this poem had. You aunt sounded like someone who inspired you and continues to inspire you. It is a true blessing to have that in your life. Beautifully written. Thank you so much for sending this to me. My favorite part was at the end...

But I would rather be missing her
Than to have to say I never knew her

Awww...now I miss Aunt Pee, too!! What a wonderful tribute to an obviously beautiful soul. I'm so glad you told her tale...she sounds like an absolute pleasure. I'm sure she's smiling down upon you, honored by this piece. Sorry for your loss, but remember, for every loss on earth you gain another angel in heaven to keep you safe. Much love~~

It sounds like you carry Aunt Pee with you everywhere you go. What a lovely piece this is .... I can here you singing it. And you are right you know, it is better to have love and lost her than never to have known her. Mx

Great stuff! She sounds like a wonderful down to earth character. And although you are sad and grieving that she is not with you now...the poem ends on a powerful positive note, of which I suspect Aunt Pee would heartily approve.
