during three years of living without.

during three years of living without.

A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)

when words fail
i stretch my fingers out
to clasp them close
to spread their comfort
across my pale skin
across the blue eyed flash you gave me

eyes close
and i imagine
the timbre of your laugh
it feels brittle
elusive to my memories
sepia-tinged by the lack of its presence
for far too many years now

i'm at a crossroads, now
where there is a choice presented
in which reality i wish to follow
the one in which you were,
or my current state,
where if it weren't for my existence,
i'd think you never were.

Jennie..... I love this..

it was that deep breath I'd been dying for.

Thank you for that.

It is hard missing someone who you have lost and your words are true memories fade like forgetting how their voice sounds, it is like memories are fragmented or shattered. We often have to remember someone it is like giving life and yet we can't live in the past or we wont be able to move forward. It is a hard choice to make. Beautiful poem.

That last line is a gut punch extraordinaire.....the tipping point, the straw that broke the camels back, I have had it up to here....when the time comes to size up our situations, the strength of our identity will pull us through. Great writing kit....
