unbirthdays all round.

unbirthdays all round.

A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)

oh mad hatter
can't i be your alice?
we can go
into far less mundane worlds
than occupy us now
they're all used up and grey
anyhow
come give me your twirlyeyed assent
we'll build all our writing desks out of ravens
to silence their mocking cackles
and fill our woods with wrens
and wild things
we'll help the boars find truffles
that we'll brew into tea
swirling our words like riddles
until even the sphinx is lost
you'll fashion the gorgeous chapeaux
from which we'll fabricate our home
dwelling in a lost world of our own choosing
kindred besties
lifelong hearts
white knight to this queen's rook 5

"I'm late, I'm late for a very important date" Oh my Robin has this right it is pure magic, the blending of fantasy and desire into a gift with shiny paper and a bow made of the same stuff that souls are made of...no...not marshmallow! You are on some kind of writing binge, I must say, not sure which I like better, part one, or part two...they are both truly amazing. Somewhere a muse is living the good life knowing the job has been done well.

Only if I can wear a funny hat.
I like the way you turn words to colors that I can carry around and admire now and then.

"Give me then, your twirlyeyed assent!" said the girl with wrens flying all about.

You've successfully combined Lewis Carroll's most infamously insane character with Greek mythology in a poem. Not sure if that's been done before. Congratulations on your entertaining originality.
