the interior hermit.A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)
the reality is
i live inside my mind pacing the halls of my psyche laughing with the memories of love it's comfortable in here all soft chairs and gentle blanketcaresses adoring words and smoothly silken remembrances here, whenever i need them most i've covered my walls with warmth painted over my shuttered windows with idyllic scenes of a life i want to have draping each softly rounded corner with rich tapestries of coloured days peopling my inner sanctum with the ghosts of those i love (but cannot have - for a myriad of reasons) i've become adept at gilding my cage with happiness for it is a cage make no mistake about that its bars are stronger than any substance known to man i know this because i built them myself and i never do things by halves
