hearts of palm.

hearts of palm.

A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)

today i followed the tributaries
embedded in my skin,
played alan quartermain with native guides
climbed pale hued jungle chasms
and forded fleshtoned streams
filled with voracious crocodiles
whose bite delivers venoms of fear
and foetid ponds chock full
of selfdoubtpirhanas
(their name saying all you need know of them)
i climbed and clambered
fought my way
through countless boobytraps and
gunky mires
all just to be here
with you, today
i have a treasure map, you see,
that leaves off with an arrow
showing me where the next map lies
hold up your hand
see where my rivers end, yours begin?
that is where the adventure goes next
so can't you come out to play?
after all, you know your own topography
far better than i do
at least.. for now..

I love a good adventure, I know of high places, rivers that run silver, and cliffs along the sea ...

That's cool. Nice diction. It also creates good imagery. Very nice.

I dig this a lot. It's light and whimsical and I needed to read a piece just like this today. Definitely made everything better :)

This was so fun...lucky playmate cuz your imagination is off da hook. Great metaphor for a trial of a day and the moment at the end when you can finally let your guard down and breathe...nice job Girly Q.
