This raises an interesting question about the value of modern day existence. Is Man really any better than his evolutionary predecessors? Are the basic instincts really any more advanced in an age of technology and so-called enlightenment? And so on. Perhaps progress and development can also be debilitating to Man's appreciation of existence.. Perhaps now we know so much that we know too much.. and hence springs apathy and withdrawal.
All these things are hinted at subtly within this poem, and act as a rhetorical warning to be wary of slipping into this over-cosseted lifestyle, and losing sight of what it really means to be alive and human. This has an almost conversational feel to it, with a matter-of-fact air of wisdom, without opining and preaching. It asks questions instead of attempting to answer them, which offers food for thought rather than a strict diet. A thought-provoking piece of work (to coin an over-used yet apt phrase) which is delicately and subtly presented with intelligence.
Hey there..I had to come back to this jen..cause it was in my mind that i did not give a proper review to this gem of a piece. This has a theme which is very well thought about jennie...and then cause it is coming from you..it has been weaved together with perfect words.
We indeed are trapped..ain't we in this world where we are so conveniently shuttling in between our real and virtual world...and the greatest folly lies in the fact that we all are quite smug about it all.Technology has brought us to a stage where we dwell in instant gratification and yet we deny it.We are drifting away from our heart and mind which alone can be true to us and yet we do not accept..
thank you for sharing jennie..
I truly love technology and not sure I would have wanted to exist before this age. That is truth be told, but I do recognize how technology hurts us and has replaced the most basic instincts that we use to have. Your poem makes people think and rethink how we live today and that is a true sign of a poet. Excellent work.

intuition does not lie, and is never wrong...sometimes we mistake it, or just do what we want to anyway...intuition is a kind of 'reading' or 'sensing' outside our more accustomed byways of perception...i like it that you 'reach'; so few do that
Playful and eager to explore new styles of writing, and to hone my skills. i'm reaching a point now where i can write a poem and be able to say that it is something i really like. I'm an avid reader, .. more..
