A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)

sharp light

delineates the world

warms the flesh

colours my view

while freckling over my too pale skin

(even after an over-healthy slather of SPF)

i sit on the back deck

hair mussed

clothes dusty and

swirled in paints and fumes

contemplating the knowledge

of a million things

that could be should be getting done

yet, still, i sit

cherishing the momentary settling

of me, inside my skin

and with the music pouring in my ears

i can think of no place i'd rather be

two years gone. *poem* sound bite

this is thoughtfully looked at the state of being. I love it when people enjoy themselves. Often I asked myself if I'd like to step into someone's else shoes, but then .. I said no, I wouldn't. I liked your inner monologue, when I read your poems I think, this is a woman with a mission to bring poetry back to the people for you connect with your audience.

I love this poem jennie..just for the simple portrayal of sinking in the moment..
you have a gift of capturing moments and putting them in words..just as they are..not being ostentatious..or hyperbolic...your words are as beautiful to me as the sunlight streaming through the splitting branches of a tree...
cherishing the momentary settling

of me, inside my skin
there is something so supremely delicious about this phrase..i absolutely love it jennie...the momentary settling of me...i have experienced this when my persistent internal clash of thoughts..struggle subside and finally i reconcile with me..this can be all of a sudden at any moment..while am praying or just sitting silently with my mother..constantly jabbering with my sister or just cooking.
(even after an over-healthy slather of SPF) ..that made me *giggle lol..

Oh this reminds me of when I'm on the back patio sippin' on some sunshine! I'm from Canada and let me tell you we are definitely deprived of vitamin D! When that sun comes to hit it's magical. You described this so well- felt like I was basking under the sun, listening to some nice tunes and hoping my SPF works!

One of those pieces that makes you so happy to be alive and able to read it. Such a beautiful piece and the ending is amazing.

sounds like you were enjoying your moment, i've noticed some female's overdependency on SPF creams, esp. here in my country where being less than white is considered not-so-pretty :)
