rainmusicthoughts.

rainmusicthoughts.

A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)

thoughts compress

beading up and sliding away

like the rain dolloping down my umbrella

as my bubble world constricts

populated solely

by the rain overhead

by my feet crunching on gravel

and the music...

music stroking

the shell-like chambers of my ear

music that soothes and enlivens

bounces, croons

speaking to me of moments past

and futures still mine for the tasting

music that reminds me of kisses given

dreams abandoned

nights spent alone, unheld and lonely

of searing passion and love filled hearts...

but the thing i find myself most grateful for,

when the music swells inside my translucent walls,

is such moments seem

to always bring me

you

Heidegger, said, work of art such as poetry, lets us see disclosure in the form of ‘world’ and ‘earth. That's what I thought when reading this poem, I also thought the comparison of rain to music is accurate for everything is a piece of music, because it is about who is listening and to what to? I believe, music is cosmos, and any association refers to something and not even on personal level; when we abandon dreams, as you say in your poem, we can't be easily freed.. we return to those dreams, even when day dreams and this might be not always the wishful thinking; the subconscious is ruthless..

I like the descriptions of the rain and the comparison of that to the soul and the mind; and the thoughts therein. It works very effectively. I particularly like:
"as my bubble world constricts"
...that reminds me of how this dreamy thought process appears ultimately: a bubble which is fragile and can easily be burst... also it makes me think of "bubble-head" - which to me is what someone is when they are in love.. Unfortunately it happens to everyone of us.. And it has a thin, imaginary wall of prettiness... but it can also drift away on the breeze...

Capturing moments...is a gift Jennie...and no one does it better than you..rain is a beautiful experience in itself..it is wonderful how many different connotations it could have for everyone...you write with such gentleness...as gentle and warm as your soul...
