when silence speaks.

when silence speaks.

A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)

when silence speaks
it moves like an inset wind,
trails along the pathways of my heart
to offer a slimfingered hand
inviting me to step inside,
inhabit its lonely world;

a place of quiet corners and
sunbleached walls
of wishes too afraid to be whispered
a place of amaranthine dreaming
of touches promised, yet never given...

a place of undisturbed desolation
having never known
the greening summer
of your presence

when silence speaks. *poem* sound bite

The poem is sentimental, kept relatively simple, you didn't try "to sound clever".... this breaths with honest emotion, I don't find clichés, and this is good, it is really great poem (like your other poetry which I found), it put smile on my face, the ending allows me to believe the conviction that someone or something is lovable and you await it, it allows me to release myself from the paradox of the imaginary self.

Like 'trails along the pathways of my heart' as it felt metaphysically intimate. Enjoyed thinking about silence as I rather like the idea of silence and think there should be more of it -- this from someone who likes the heaviest of pounding metal music. But generally speaking there is too much low grade sound around and too many of us making it. So a big hurrah! for silence. As I read the poem I felt as if I was in a gallery looking at a painting of a beach, a sandune, perpahs with spikey grass, a tern, and a shell or two. Perhaps with a pair of abandoned sandals or some such.

Interesting thought that nothing is really speaking but rather the atmosphere is echoing it's own thoughts back.

This poem makes me feel as if I've just walked into the garden or your mind and came out the other side feeling changed by it all.

This is a fresh, gentle and melodic tribute to the silence inside ourselves, that occaisionally affects us.

The yearning in this is palpable...
The last stanza captivating. You have a fresh voice.
