A Breakfast Of What-ifs

A Breakfast Of What-ifs

A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)

heartbeats are rarely fickle things

staccato rhythms pointing to

the truth of a thing

faster than your brain can muddle through

reminding you as you eat

processed cheese slices on toast

(previously cello-wrapped)

and drink your milky sweet tea

which tastes of other places,

and yet also of home,

that perhaps the mundane

can still hold a sense of wonder

now....within my eccentric thought processes I took this into the umbrella of perversion with its references as well as isolation....also within its title all point me into the direction of the morning after a bad decision...;)......or I may be way off....which is the beauty of your poetry

When I saw the title of this piece, I thought wow must read this. But I found it a little to brief, the title says more than the piece itself. I just wonder if you had more on your mind when you wrote this but didnt put it in.

Another of your wondrous little poems.

Very nicely done over a cup of tea.

And, a slice of velveeta on toast
perhaps.

Great construction.
