Inner Circumnavigation

Inner Circumnavigation

A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)

in quiet moments i sit alone

one finger

tracing the lines engraved

upon my palm

following each trail mindlessly

but with a hidden purpose:

to discover the place

on the road map of me

where

I

end and

YOU

begin

and yes, the comfort comes

each time

from never finding the seam

Another wonderful capturing of an intimate moment of musing on a tender subject. Again the poem seems to be in three parts, with the physical image shifting netly into the subconscious searcing and the conclusion which seems to be addressed directly to the loved one, present or not. It is like filming the formation and evolution of an emotion.

I'm beginning to suspect that you are a hopeless romantic. You better be careful, I understand that there is no known cure for that. Your poems always seem to teach or ilustrate something better than most can.

This is no exception.
