things i've learned.

A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)

i know what lonely is

it is candles not lit

and wishes not made

it is truths made obvious

by light of day

your true importance shown

by lack of words and unformed touches

it is disbelief in one's self

doubting the sanctity

contained within your blood,

a taste like bitter ash

upon your tongue -

residue of shattered beliefs

and faulty hopes

long meant to have been

forsaken

lonely is also a candle lit right down to extinct on a table for one in a single man bedsit...it is washing can wait and a two day old hair chin for there's no one to impress why choose more when accustomed to less..and the holes in the socks are not what they all see nor the sea of the end as it starts its ascention...you invariably inspire me jenniewren....

"residue of shattered beliefs
and faulty hopes"

The fragility and desolation of this poem and the subject it dissects are emphasised and underlined in the above quoted lines. This is an empty hollow of isolation, filled only with the cold heart of loneliness and disillusionment itself. The words of this poem crack the seams in the fabric of fulfilment - the other side of happiness and love... A numb nostalgia for what could have and should have been.. This encompasses the inevitably to be felt disaster and failure of love and life itself. A powerful poem.

Oh that was so lovely my friend,I could not define loneliness better than you..
Candles never lit..wishes never made, truth comes out naked,in all light of day
yet you feel like its the darkest of nights, you know how small you are
bitter taste at your tongue ,shattered beliefs,no more hopes, been awaited too long
That was so lovely what you said here..
lovely write..
