Gone Away

Gone Away

A Poem by Jennie Love

one morning you will wake up reaching for me.
i will be unreachable, like a star in the night sky.

in a crowd of people you will call out my name.

i will be nameless, alone on a mountain.

in your bed you will long for my scent.

i will be scentless, except for the aura of another lover.

your mind will try to remember me.

i will be forgotton.

your heart will long to find me.

i will be lost.

Gosh..this is so sad and yet very pretty. I like how its like a safety blanket to her lover. Almost as if saying .. "don't panic about me being gone for it's going to happen and I want you to be prepared". But it also tells of the coming inevitable erasure of this person from the memory due to a new love.. another helpful note. Many people worry about whether or not their lover-passed away would be alright with them finding a new mortal love. Here we have closure and permission from the deceased even before they are dead. I don't know if you intended on writing this poem about a lover who's passed on .. or one who has just physically left the relationship.. or even emotionally left. I like that ambiguity.
