Chapter Two

Chapter Two

A Chapter by Jennika has a short attention span :P

Bright lights shining through a thin curtain. The start of a brand new horrible day. Oh joy, I thought, as I swung my legs over the bed and walked down the hallway to make sure Michael wasn't up yet. I saw a flash of color in the plants as I was walking back to my room. I leaned over and saw a blue bottle. Oh no, not again. I grabbed the bottle and took it back to my bathroom. I dumped the pills into the toilet and threw away the bottle. Not again, I can't let this happen again. I brushed my teeth and ran a brush through my hair and changed my clothes. I rushed down the hallway and down the stairs where my dad was sitting at the table reading the newspaper.

"Hey Daddy" I smiled and kissed his cheek.

"Hey pumpkin, I'm gonna head to work in a few, can I trust you to keep the house standing?"

"Of course you can" I smiled.

"I know dear, make sure Michael goes to campus today and could you possibly convince him to bring his sweet girlfriend over to dinner?"

"Misty has to go over to her grandma's tonight and tomorrow night" I lied. Lies, that's what I've been doing lately. Misty's cheating on Michael and he knows it, but he keeps her around to bring shame to the family. Dad likes Misty because of her s****y looks and my step mom is the only sane one who doesn't want her around. I tell and don't bother correcting the lies, but I try to keep up with the truth. If I can't keep some truth I might go crazy and start believing in the lies.

"Oh, that's a shame. Maybe next week she'll be able to come to dinner" he smiled. "I'm going to work, be a good little angel okay? Love you sweetie, good-bye"

"Bye Daddy" I said as I walked out the back door. I bent down to grab my kitty, Whiskers, and started petting him. "You're such a good little boy, you know that right?" I smiled as I sat with him on the swing near the pool.

Michael storms through the back door screaming, "Where are my drugs?"

"I flushed them to protect you, I don't want you to end up in the hospital again!" I said as I protected Whiskers.

He walks over threateningly as Frank pops his head over the fence. "Am I interrupting something?" he says with a smile on his face.

"No, Michael's just saying bye before he leaves for class" I covered. More lies. Lies, lies, lies!

"Goodbye Abigail, I'll see you when I get home" he says sweetly, but the glare he shoots me shows me his true intentions.

Frank laughs causing me to turn back towards him. "So your brother's a drug addict? I knew there was something wrong with him"

"He's not an addict, he just has a hard time saying no" I defended him. I've said plenty of lies to start off this morning, why not another one?

"If that helps you sleep better at night" he remarked. I wish, it's a suprise I can still sleep at night.

"What do you want?"

"To keep your noble brother out a drug scandal? Easy. I want you to do my homework, nerd"

"Fine"

"And, you'll do whatever I say"

"Yes master" I said sarcastically.

"Great then. I'll see you later slave" I guess sarcasm is lost on him.

I sigh and let Whiskers the cat in the house. I go upstairs where I know Michael is waiting. He straightens up from leaning against the wall.

"You've been a very bad girl"

"I know, I'm sorry" I said in a small voice.

"Come here" he said with no emotion.

I followed him to my room and mentally prepared myself for what was about to happen. He forced me to sit on the bed and he started to hit me. He hit me so hard I thought I was going to cry from the pain, but crying just makes him hit harder. He yanked me up from the bed and threw me to the floor and started kicking me. I don't know how much more I can take, silent tears streamed down my face. I hate this, I try to be good, honestly I do.

He yanked me up by my hair, "Now, are you going to try to be a good girl?" I nodded my head for fear my voice would shake if I spoke, or worse, I would start sobbing.

"Good" he said with venom and dropped me. I curled up in a ball and stayed there for the rest of the day. I can't ever be good enough for him.

This is where the title "Behind Closed Doors" comes in. I hope ya'll get the message behind why it's called BCD, and I hope to keep the message throughout the whole book. And I felt sick to my stomach while typing this chapter, because in case I forgot to mention it, this is based off my dream. I've dreamt this book from beginning to end, and this is just a warning, if you get too emotional, you might not want to read this book. Fair warning, and there's gonna be a chapter in this book that made me cry when I dreamt it, it was that horrifying, but there's a message and I'm determined to stick with it. I know, I know, I'm rambling >.>
