Smell

Smell

A Poem by Jenna Lynn

I think that smells can hold
more memories than we realize
like the way I can smell your cinnamon gum breath
while you're looking in my eyes
or the way your sweat smells dried
all over yourself, the sheets, and me
waking up with limbs more tangled
than that of a willow tree
and your cologne, that hits me hard
because it rubs off on me
I'll be feeling so alone and then smell it
where did it rub off? where the hell could it be?
it doesn't matter, really, where the scent comes from
because no matter where it is, it'll still make my heart stop
