Understanding life

Understanding life

A Poem by Jen

It was a tiny drop of water on my windshield,
and i was mesmerized,
both hands on the wheel,
the yellow line becomes invisable,
as the world dissapears.
It is just I for once,
and while the music played,
happy thoughts danced in my head,
I began to see that light at the end of the tunnel.
My heart began to flutter with excitement,
like a thousand butterflies breaking away,
from their cocoons,
life was returning back to me,
what it once stole away.
I'm finally understanding what life really is,
it's not about surviving,
it's not about who's wrong or who's right,
it's not about the heartache or pain,
or about getting the last word in,
it's not about how much you have,
or how much you don't have,
it's about learning,
who you are,
as a person,
as a friend,
and as a lover,
In the end, the only riches you need,
is a heart full of love and forgiveness.

This poem is beautiful. The discovery of oneself is truly a blessing. My favorite part of the poem was here "My heart began to flutter with excitement,
like a thousand butterflies breaking away,
from their cocoons," This screams elegance and is packed with emotions. Wonderful work Jen!
