No Tomorrow

No Tomorrow

A Poem by Awakened Rose

I wake up to my heart's numbed cry.
Knowing its love is gone,
Knowing it'll never know why.

I pour my coffee, black as fate.
And sip down all the memories I refuse to replace.

I get ready for the day and paint over the loss.
Telling myself I will not fall victim to hope's cost.

But if I had to choose between today and tomorrow
I'd still choose today.
Because no time machine could tell my heart
that I should have stayed.
When all my soul needed was growth
in a new place.

And I thank your soul for giving me all that it could.
And your heart for seeing the light in me when it didn't know if it should.

But there's no room in my today for yesterday's love.
So I get on with my day.. patiently waiting for the one.

Many wonderful lines grace this poem of loves's saddest fears ever. A losing a love that has potential But you knew you had to move on. Oh what great heartache.

"coffee, black as fate"
This was my favourite line even before I finished reading the poem.

I so agree with your views about the 'growth of a soul' and the message of hope. The soul is the most important and veiled aspect of our existence. Your message of hope has connected with 'my soul' as most of my works carry a spiritual undercurrent.. :-)

Another good write.
