Innocent Thief

Innocent Thief

A Poem by Awakened Rose

You took my smile and left my heart.
Not knowing what to do with it.
I took your kindness and left your hate.
Not wanting any part of it.

And I know we went our ways and took what
was given to us as our own.
But my laughter has missed its rightful home.
And your sweetness has left a cavity.

So while you're out there finding another
smile small enough to steal.
I hope you know that without the heart,
none of it is real.

And you tell her that without the hate,
the kindness will kill.
And that she must learn to love all of you,
even the parts you conceal.

But as for me..
I've finally become one with
my heart and my head.
And my smile no longer obeys to
the man who takes what is already his.

Love can trick us. Make us swim in madness. I like the emotions and the ending. Hard to grasp love was twisted up by a lie. The poem open the door to a conversation about love. We would need pots of coffees and never be able to understand love after the conversation. Love is luck and timing. Need two people with the same need in the same place. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
