Yellow Paint

Yellow Paint

A Poem by Jeni Reed

Peel the walls strip the yellow skin
Lead is laden from the sickness within
Embody the sick and eat the poor
Striping the exterior to get some more
Riddled with lime to cover the scent
Spending more with nothing spent
A scream lets out from those painted halls
Peering closer to further the calls
In the moment the more you lick
Covers the tongue with lives true spit
Water and blood are needed to thrive
But mixing the two you'll surely die
Reset the paint and start fresh
Madness patiently madens the flesh.

Saw a couple of spelling errors, but damn this is a strong piece. It's difficult to pick just one group of lines that stood out, because on their own they're each potent. Excellent work.
