Cliff Tears

Cliff Tears

A Poem by Jeni Reed

I have no energy for the days
The eye cliff totters with waterfall tears
After the fall I split into three and
then a few more
One stands beyond the cliff
looking down
One flies through the air always in
between
And one looks up as it drowns in
the puddles that it made
impulsive and greedy I must have
all of them
Pouring sap from the forest into
my sight
My tears now cascade at a sticky
rate
All intertwined and connected
but detached and broken
trying to reduce the fear of the
unknown I add more choices and
more fear
I get closer and closer to being
far away
