Detached

Detached

A Poem by Jeni Reed

Black sand scratched clean.

Names washed away from the stone.

Commitment.  Mourning. No more.

Aye, it shall
It tells me that one can feel an immense pain from someone but that pain eventually will subside and healing will come and crying will be no more. I'm so surprised that a writer can say something so short and give a reader so much faith and so much hope. You are truly a talented wonder!

Incredible! Thank you.

you are the wonder Stuart.
This piece has power to it! The image that comes to mind is a long figure at the edge of a long and hot desert and there upon a stone, the figure uses their own bloody nails to chip away the names of some ancient pact of some kind. Tears are dripping down onto the stone as the sand bakes the blood from the fingers within mere moments. One never sees the face of the figure, but you can feel the aura of sorrow and misery radiating from the torn and tattered black cloak they wear.
After a lingering time.... the names are gone... and the figure slowly rocks back onto their heels and pulls out a cross on a chain. You can see the siluette of their lips whispering some prayer. Then as the figure finally stands upright and turns into the sun, Their face shines blindingly white, and the cloak billows away...a just a second there is nothing left but the hot desert sun, the blowing wind and the black stone, unreadable with dried blood upon it's surface.

Well... that's what came to mind when I read this anyway! Great Ink! Thanks for sharing!

what a neat take on it! thanks so much for reading!
Beautifully done. This is riveting to me, a journey that pulls you in to release your pain and never feel it again. Thank you for this trip.
